Sound-alikes are often used in commericals, movies, or in any situation where obtaining permission to use the bona fide song would be financially prohibitive or otherwise difficult. In some cases, sound-alikes are more appropriate use than the songs they resemble, expecially in the case where lyrics are unwanted.
